Club Nights

The Club meets every Monday night (except Public Holidays) at South Lake Leisure Centre from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

A monthly swimming program is prepared in advance by the Club Captain and usually involves the following :-

  • 2 Coaching Sessions* a month:
    • Session 1 is fitness based
    • Session 2 concentrates more on skills/techniques
  • 1 Aerobics Session+ a month (400m+ swims)
  • 1 Sprint Night a month (25m – 200m swims)

* The coaching sessions are usually taken by a qualified coach at no extra charge to members.

+ The aerobics session is aimed at allowing members the chance to accumulate points for themselves and the club is part of the annual Masters Swimming National aerobics program.

The program prepared by Vanessah covering the forthcoming period can be viewed by clicking here.

Inter Club Swim Meets

Masters Swimming WA co-ordinates an annual calendar of Inter Club Meets, where several local clubs participate in a program of specific race events. These are based in local pools and each one is organised by a local Masters Swimming affiliated club.

Our Club is usually involved in 4 of these Inter Club Swim Meets in each year. Dates and venues will be confirmed by Vanessah at the start of each year.

Results of all Masters Swimming Inter Club Meets can be found at http://www.mastersswimmingwa.asn.au/events-pool.htm.

Open Water Swimming

There is also an annual calendar of Open Water Swims (“OWS”) co-ordinated by Masters Swimming WA . Calendars containing a full listing of events held each year can be found at http://www.mastersswimmingwa.asn.au/events-ows.htm.

Many of our members participate in several of these events annually. The Club encourages members to enter one of more of these events held at local beaches. In doing so, it currently meets the entry fees for members who enter one of the largest such events, the Swim Thru Rottnest (organised by Cottesloe Crabs – see www.swimthrurotto.com for full details) held annually in December.

This year around 14 of our members swam in that event and several others travelled over to Rottnest Island to enjoy the day !

Links to results recorded for members who have participated in these OWS events can be found on the Results page.

Other Swim Sessions - Coogee Beach

Several members generally meet at Coogee Beach Jetty (usually at 7.30am, sometimes earlier !) on Saturdays during the Summer months. This activity usually involves a walk to Woodman Point Jetty and then a swim of either half (750m) or full (1,500m). Some keen swimmers will swim both ways instead of walking…..

For those really keen, an enthusiastic group continues through the Winter, meeting at 7.30am on Saturdays. In the last 2 years, these Winter sessions have proved really popular with 10 or more members often taking a refreshing dip - So come along and try it out!
